Angelite is a relative of gypsum that is formed from calcium sulfate, derived from compressed Celestite over millions of years. It is sometimes called Anhydrite from the Greek term for ‘without water’. Angelite is formed where Gypsum crystals
compress over millions of years eventually forming the cool smooth blue-grey Angelite stone in its place. Interestingly, it will transform back to Gypsum when placed in water. This mystical crystal was discovered in the ancient Inca regions of Peru in 1987. Since its identification it has been mined in various regions across South America, Europe and Africa.
