At NIGHT & PRISM we are passionate about crystals, their individual beauty, origins and history, their theorised energetic attributes and connections to the zodiac signs. Crystals are naturally formed by the earth and some people hold the belief that crystals can exude natural energies.
Whether or not you place value in the belief of crystal energies, it is our belief here at NIGHT & PRISM that in its most basic principles that the interesting beauty and the natural Earth connections of crystals can aid in mindfulness and gratitude and peacefulness.
AMETRINE
Ametrine is a rare sunshine yellow and soft lilac naturally occurring quartz. It is said to be the complete balance of the properties of Amethyst and Citrine. Together, Amethyst and Citrine form the rare combination of Ametrine; which
historically derives from The Anahi mine in Bolivia.
It is the only mine in operation today that produces this special stone. Ametrine was re-discovered in the 1970's after the location of the mine (first discovered in the 1600's) had been lost to local legend. Upon rediscovery, the mine was named after the historic princess from the legends.
Most commercially available Ametrine is laboratory heat-treated Amethyst. This is created when Amethyst is subjected to the same type of conditions in the lab as in nature. Amethyst is a clear quartz with the presence of manganese which gives purple colouration. Meanwhile, the presence of iron in Citrine creates the colours of golden yellow.
Ametrine is a stone commonly attributed to the zodiac sign of Libra and is said to have associations with promoting inspiration, meditation and serenity.

AVENTURINE
Aventurine is part of the mineral family of Chalcedony. It is formed when quartz meets mica or hematite. It’s a form of quartz that delivers itself in a dark green coloration accompanied with occasional golden flecks. It is most commonly
mined in the Chennai region of India, but is also mined in The Amazon, Chile, Brazil and Russia.
Aventurine is associated with good leadership, luck, charm, fortune, prosperity and confidence. For this reason it has been heralded as the 'abundance stone' or 'good luck crystal.'
Aventurine is commonly attributed as an ancient Tibetan birthstone of the Cancer zodiac. Modernly, it is granted to Cancerians as a secondary stone, but is also associated with beneficial nature to August-born Leos and Virgos.

Caribbean Blue Calcite, also known as "Ocean Blue Calcite" is a very new combination mineral of Blue Calcite and brown Aragonite.
It was recently discovered in 2019 in Pakistan. Unfortunately it is limited and hard to source as there has been no further findings of this beautiful crystal elsewhere.

The Citrine gemstone is found in the Scottish highlands, Spain, Madagascar, Russia and Brazil. This golden yellow glistening crystal has been favoured as a decorative stone from as early as 300 BC. It was particularly favoured by Queen Victoria who often wore the stone in statement adornments.
Citrine is a bright and sunny ‘good vibration’ stone; often referred to as “The Merchant Stone.” It is a stone that is symbolic of prosperity, success and wealth.

Sunstone is a member of the feldspar crystal family and is named due to its warm, bright, sunlike appearance; most often found in warming hues of orange, gold, red and brown. Sunstone contains Hematite and Goethite which gift this stone the
ability to refract light and create a beautiful iridescence when viewed from different angles. Sunstone is mined across the globe most notably in Norway, Greece, Russia, Canada, the USA, and India. The Sunstone was uncovered first in Scandinavian territories of Norway. It was said that this bright shimmering crystal was a useful navigation stone for Vikings making their way across the unforgiving waters.

White Opal is regarded as an emotional stone that is said to amplify our emotions & let go of negative energy. Opals come in a varying array of natural shades. But at NIGHT & PRISM we took a particular interest in the spiritual characteristics and the natural beauty of the abundant White Opal to create our crystal infused soy wax melts. White Opal is formed from microscopic hydrated silica spheres and water. When the silica spheres are uniform in shape a precious Opal is formed and irregular spheres will result in the formation of the common Opal. It is naturally occurring predominantly in Australia, but additionally has been discovered in
Brazil, Mexico and Slovakia. Australia is so abundant in opal stones that they named it their national gemstone. But the first documented occurrence of this beautiful iridescent stone was in Kenya around 4,000BC.
White Opal gemstones are generally predominantly opaque white in colour but can have some translucence. Opals that have a more transparent appearance are most likely to be a crystal opal which we use predominantly as our opal of choice within our craft here at NIGHT & PRISM. The name “Opal” derives from the Sanskrit word ‘upala’ meaning ‘precious stone’, similarly the stone was called ‘opallios’ by the Ancient Greeks; which means “to see a colour change.” This pretty colour sparkling stone was considered as a powerful spiritual stone that could aid in communication with the spirit world.
It is a supportive emotional healing and connective stone that is said to offer openness to create a pathway for balanced and positive thinking. Opal is associated as an October gemstone and so it is a strengthening stone to be utilised by both Scorpio and Libra zodiac signs.
